Side Headlock - Three Escapes
Three side headlock escapes. All are based on postural positioning and sequential actions. The techniques shown are demonstrated in their simplest form.
1. Stand up - key points, control both arms to protect neck and prevent being hit. Plant foot close and stand up with determination while looking up to the sky.
2. Pick up and drop - key points, move in close. Stand all the way up and drop.
3. Step behind and sit - key points, particularly useful if for much larger attacker. Place foot behind heel and sit, spread knees to kneel behind opponent and sink weight back. Pull head and legs to arch body to weaken grip. Finish with arm bar or stand up and leave area.
There are variations to these techniques not shown in this brief video.

Learning to ‘fall’ safely is a valuable life skill whether you’re a martial artist or not. In martial arts this skill is called Ukemi - 受身. We then ask if anyone would like to share what happened we hear; “Fell off a climbing frame”, “fell off a swing”,...

      Well, I mean, that's kind of what taekwondo is known for. I think high kicks have their place. My point is that in the context of a karate kata kicks are performed a certain way as part of a combative sequence.

    • @sassuki
      @sassuki 13 днів тому

      @@GKCgoju not really. Taekwondo is a Korean karaté style, and is based on the Shotokan style. You can see the same problem in Shotokan competitions, especially WKF, where people would do Jodan Kekomi all the time, which is complete non-sense. All of the Jodan Kekomi should be Chudan Keage in Kata. Be it Taekwondo or Shotokan, people need to understand that kicking high is nice, but not in Kata, because it makes zero sense from a Bunkai perspective, as Kata is not for show.

    I've never actually thought about it. In pure striking sports or even just primarily striking sports like muay thai they often teach you "never" to cross your feet. The issue being leg kicks and counter-takedowns like foot sweeps. But you see the cross step not just in turn throws like the hip toss, but also in the kind of sweeps shown here. I just find that interesting, because it's not like this is telegraphing in the sense that it makes them impractical. It's just a good example of an unavoidable tell. Something that you both have to watch for when you're the one defending, and something you should work to set up and conceal when on the offensive.

Also watching (by feel) position and movement of the knot, moving down and up again during working all the technics. For me its a powerfull helping tool for imagine tandem and being aware of this all the time. (I noticed also: if i have no belt and do Karate exercises, i feel little weak 😂for real it needs much more concentration for doing good breathing, tension and release of muscles and all this stuff.)
